On Thursday, March 3, MPP Han Dong will move 2nd reading of his Private Members Bill to the Ontario Legislature titled the Licensed Home Inspectors Act. The bill aims to regulate the home inspection industry by licensing home inspectors. Currently, anyone in Ontario can call themselves a home inspector.
The proposed licensing regime would be delegated to an andministrative authority that will ensure all home inspectors must meet the same set of qualifications. The administrative authority would oversee the issuing, renewing and revoking of licenses. Requirements for licensing would ensure consumer protection and a fair marketplace.
